A Life in Tennis and Beyond

For over forty years, I’ve dedicated my life to teaching tennis - guiding players aged five to ninety, from complete beginners to international competitors. My students have come from every corner of the globe, each one reminding me that tennis, at its core, is not just a sport but a conversation between mind, body, and spirit.

As a former world-class athlete, I’ve lived the discipline, sacrifice, and joy that come with chasing excellence. I understand what it takes to reach levels of success that less than one percent of athletes will ever experience - and I’ve made it my mission to translate those lessons into simple, human, and practical coaching principles.

My teaching style blends technical precision with humor, patience, and perspective. Having grown up in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s -eras defined by individuality and creativity - I’ve seen how modern “cookie-cutter” coaching can sometimes forget the beauty of playing by feel. My philosophy: the best tennis isn’t copied; it’s discovered.

When I became a certified U.S. teaching professional, certification demanded both high-level playing ability and apprenticeship under a proven mentor. I was fortunate to be groomed by Oscar Arroyo, a former top-50 ATP player, Mexico’s national #1, and Director of Tennis at his West Palm Beach academy.

Before tennis became my career, I excelled in multiple sports - football, baseball, basketball, and tennis - earning over 100 college scholarship offers and a selection to try out for the 1980 U.S. Olympic Basketball Team, a year marked by the Olympic boycott following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

🌴 Barbados and Beyond

In 1994, I founded my tennis academy in Barbados, West Indies, where I’ve since coached more than fifty players who have earned U.S. college athletic scholarships, helping them pursue both higher education and competitive tennis at the collegiate level.

In addition, twelve of my academy’s players have gone on to represent Barbados in Davis Cup and Federation Cup competition. I also served as national team captain from 1995 to 2001, guiding the next generation of Caribbean tennis talent and helping to grow the sport across the region.

🎯 My Mission

Today, my goal is simple:

To share the timeless lessons of tennis - freely, openly, and with a touch of humor - so players of all ages can rediscover what makes this game a lifelong teacher.

Welcome to my corner of the tennis world. Here, we’ll explore what truly makes the game tick - not just the strokes, but the stories, instincts, and mindset behind them.
